The Great Cake Heist

This weekend visiting home was a blast. We returned with a trunk load of baby gear that was given to us or bought for us by family. We now have TWO play mats, a Moses basket, lots of books, a boppy pillow, and I'm sure several other things I am forgetting.

On Saturday, we went to my friend Abby's wedding and it was a good time. Even though I couldn't drink, as you can see in the background of this picture, my table did plenty of drinking for me:

The food was great, I may have gotten seconds :-) I was really looking forward to the cake though and it felt like it took forever for that part to happen. I kept looking around for people serving it and finally when they did bring it out, it was cut into teeny tiny pieces. Which didn't make sense to us (the table) because the cake was huge and there was obviously plenty to go around. We all ate it fast - Arna even got a piece so that I could have two since he couldn't have any. It was DELICIOUS. Some white cake soaked in something awesome, I don't know exactly what.

We all inhaled our two inch slivers of cake so fast that when we looked up we all had the same expression - how to get more?

Without talking, we quickly passed our plates around and the guy across from me stacked them neatly and then hid them under a couple of napkins. He then raised his arm in the air when someone with a tray of cake walked by, as if to say, "Hey, what about us?"

We were all dying with fits of giggles. I'm sure other tables were staring.

...and you know what? It WORKED! Another round of cake! This time, even bigger slices.  Arna was having trouble keeping his cool as the waiter served us. He pressed his glass to his face as if to take a drink, but just sort of snorted and hyperventilated into it - causing it and his glasses to fog up. I'm assuming the waiter just thought he was drunk.

We didn't just eat though, we also had a good time dancing and hanging out with some of my sorority sisters who I hadn't seen since Arna and I's wedding.

I got a picture with the bride:

And there was a photo booth that we took advantage of:

The rest of the weekend was spent with friends and family. I went shopping with my mom and sister and got some more maternity clothes. I bought a bikini for the upcoming trip to San Diego. As long as I can make it through the summer without stretch marks, I'm going to show this belly off. I couldn't find any maternity bottoms that were regular though - just this little tennis skirt looking deal. It's kind of cute though so it'll work.

Arna and I also went to our friends' Becca and Andrew's house and experienced their giant 3D television. As I was watching Shrek in 3D I felt like it was an important moment. One of those memories that you can tell your grandkids like, "I remember when I was pregnant with your mother/father and I saw one of them 3D TVs for the first time. You had to wear these big bulky glasses back then that were so expensive, most folks only had one or two pair...life was hard then!"
With all of the traveling we haven't had time for a belly shot for this week. I'll try and post it soon. You should know though, that this baby has started moving like crazy! The whole car ride s/he was moving and grooving and stetching. It was pretty uncomfortable but nonetheless entertaining.

Happy Memorial Day folks!
