I've been wanting to update for awhile now but Blogger has been down. Super sad. Anyway, on to the funny story:
Last week, Arna's class from the previous semester had a farewell barbeque at a local park. The weather was steamy: 90 degrees and some considerable humidity. I chose to wear one of the summer dresses I got with my MIL a couple of weeks ago. A long black spaghetti strap one.
We spent the evening under the shelter, eating hamburgers, chicken, stuffed bell peppers, fruit salad, regular salad and brownie pie. (Yeah, I remember it all. I also ate it all). The stuffed peppers were incredible. They were filled with seriously...eight different kinds of vegetables at least and quinoa. Safe for Arna to eat and yet surprisingly, he declined to indulge in their veggie goodness.
After eating, I decided to try my hand at frisbee with a couple of the guys from Arna's class. I hadn't played in a long time and every other throw or so would yield a wild arc that would skim the trees or soar over to the shelter. One such throw slung sideways and careened into the street. As I headed for it, I heard from behind me, a soft, stuttering beep of a car horn and a young man hung out of the window and proclaimed, "Don't worry! I'll get it." As I turned to face my Frisbee Knight in Shining Armor, his bright smile faded a bit with the sight of my swollen belly. "Nevermind," he said leaning back into his window. "I guess I got here too late!" and he drove off.
It's lucky he didn't catch me on a particularly hormonal day or the brush off might have hurt my feelings. Instead, I found it pretty hilarious and ran to tell Arna to which he promptly responded, "You have to put that on your blog!" And now I have.
Happy Graduation to the graduates, Happy Summer to everyone and Happy 17 weeks to the baby and me! (Belly picture to be added later)
