(Here is a picture of Arna scoring a run)
The weather got pretty warm surprisingly as it has only averaged at around 60 this past week. I was getting really hot and had to go home and change into cooler clothes. I did not get sunburned though. Even though a bunch of people came up to me warning me that I would. Nope! No sunburn!
After the game was over, Arna and I came home and got ready for prom. This would be the second prom that Arna and I attended, though the first was back in 2006 and we did not go together. Nor did we even speak to one another. Oh, the time we wasted being snarky teenagers :-)
Had I not been pregnant, I would have wanted to wear some big fluffy crazy gown to the prom. But surprisingly, in this day and age of 16 and Pregnant, they do not make prom dresses to fit a belly. I instead wore a very classy black dress that I got from Motherhood last weekend with my mother in law and Arna wore his suit. We looked pretty spiffy.
We had a great time. Though dancing while pregnant is definitely challenging. My back started hurting, and my stomach muscles started hurting. I felt the urge to cradle my stomach while I was dancing to prevent it from moving around too much. And my hips are not as fluid as they once wore. Nonetheless, I was still able to break it down and Arna and I had a blast.
Today, I got to celebrate my first mother's day! I still made breakfast because I was craving French toast and Arna has a gluten allergy so I felt bad asking him to handle the bread. After that, we watched the episode of SNL from last night that Tina Fey hosted. It was really hilarious. It was all about motherhood (and Osama Bin Laden of course).
Then we went for a walk downtown, had some lunch, grabbed an ice cream cone and ran a few errands. When we came home, Arna gave me my presents. Two mother themed books. One of which I've already started to read. Every Day is Mother's Day is full of little "How to Survive Motherhood" tips and ways to bond with your partner and children even when you're stressed to the max and feel like hibernating.
The last bit of news is that Arna put together the changing table this week! We now have a poop station up and ready for when the little stinker arrives.
And now...now, I'm kicking up my feet and relaxing while Arna works on edits for his story soon to be published in the Missouri Review.
Oh! I nearly forgot. Here's the belly at 16 weeks:
Wow! 16 weeks already! Time is flying! Sounds like you two are doing wonderful. Give Arna my best and let him know I dig his specs ;) -Jakon
